Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information OVERCAST ("the game", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By playing OVERCAST you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
- Account data. A player name you choose (or one assigned to you), and — if you sign in with Apple or Google — the identifier those services provide. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
- Device identifier. A device-generated identifier used to create and restore your game account when you have not linked a social sign-in.
- Gameplay data. Match results, rounds survived, your hidden skill rating, tier, season progress, equipped cosmetics, and in-game currency ("embers") balance.
- Purchase records. When you buy in-app items, we receive a purchase receipt from Apple or Google to validate the transaction and grant your items. We do not collect or store your payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple and Google.
- Friends and social. Friend relationships and party invitations you create within the game.
We do not collect your real name, email address (unless you choose to email us), contacts, location, photos, or browsing activity. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
How we use your information
- To run the game — authenticate you, host matches, and save your progress.
- To operate ranked play, leaderboards, seasons, and matchmaking.
- To process and validate in-app purchases and grant the items you buy.
- To enable friends, parties, and invitations.
- To detect and prevent cheating, abuse, and fraud.
Where your data is stored
Game data is stored on secure servers hosted in the European Union (Hetzner, Germany). Connections between the game and our servers are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/WSS).
Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share information only with the service providers required to run the game — Apple and Google for authentication and purchase validation, and our server host for storage. Your player name, tier, and match results are visible to other players as part of normal gameplay (leaderboards, match rosters, friends).
Your rights and choices
- Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account and associated data from within the game (Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing us at the address below. Deletion removes your profile, progress, ratings, inventory, and friend links.
- Access. You may request a copy of the data associated with your account by contacting us.
- EU/UK users (GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data, and to object to processing. Our lawful basis for processing is the performance of the game service you request.
Children
OVERCAST is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Purchases and virtual items
In-app purchases are processed by Apple's App Store and Google Play. "Embers" and cosmetic items are virtual goods with no real-world monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash. See our Terms of Service for details.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
